Transmute to Launch Second Tech Demo with US CBP in November 2024
Transmute, a leader in supply chain data management and visibility solutions, is proud to announce the upcoming launch of their E-Commerce Technology Demonstration with United States Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP). Building on last fall’s successful Steel Tech Demo, this event features participation from major government agencies and top commercial partners, including A.N. Deringer, Inc., BASF, Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF), and GS1 US.
The test heralds a new era of efficiency and optimization for global E-commerce transactions, particularly de minimis shipments. A ballooning number of de minimis shipments entering the US provides the potential for bad actors to smuggle illicit and counterfeit goods across the border. Contracted via US Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Silicon Valley Innovation Program (DHS SVIP), Transmute has spent five years building open, interoperable data standards to equip CBP with near real-time access to digitally signed and structured trade data.
“Supply chains remain plagued by over-reliance on paper and PDF documents. The result has been fragmented data silos that don’t speak the same language, and opacity that threatens security and precludes resilience,” says Karyl Fowler, CEO of Transmute. “Transmute’s approach to digitizing cross-border data flows empowers organizations to take control of their supply chains. And we’re proud to showcase our capabilities in the upcoming E-Commerce Tech Demo with our partners at US CBP.”
In conformance with the US CBP’s commitment to interoperability standards under their ACE 2.0 initiative, Transmute’s Platform automatically transmutes existing data formats into interoperable verifiable credentials. The platform then seamlessly connects data, providing users with cohesive, actionable insights that enable organizations to proactively identify new revenue opportunities and minimize risks.
Transmute’s Platform has undergone rigorous testing to ensure readiness for operational rollout, the E-Commerce Tech Demo being one of the final synthetic data tests with US CBP. Participation from commercial actors and government agencies signals a widespread commitment to safeguarding de minimis shipments and demonstrating cooperation with the US government in pursuit of safer, more efficient trade.
The E-Commerce Tech Demo is scheduled for November 2024 and will offer commercial partners the ability to test Transmute’s Platform capabilities for sending digitally verifiable pre arrival shipment information to CBP, using synthetic data. Transmute remains dedicated to advancing the integration of verifiable data solutions in various sectors, driving innovation and creating a more secure, connected world.
