National firm leads by example with 32 percent female workforce and year-round commitment to growing recognition and representation.

BOSTON and NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, March 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Shawmut Design and Construction, a leading $2 billion national construction management firm, is marking Women in Construction (WIC) week, March 3-7, with impactful programming and project tours to highlight the vital role women play in the industry and the importance of representation at all levels.

Shawmut is a national leader with a 32 percent female workforce, compared to the 10 percent industry average. For a decade, Shawmut's employee-owners have participated in this industry-wide week to engage in open and honest discussions about how the industry can better recognize the accomplishments of women and expand their presence the field.

Shawmut is kicking off the week with a companywide event focused on this year's theme, "Together We Rise: encouraging collaboration, mentorship, and learning among construction professionals." Throughout the week, Shawmut has planned visits to jobsites with women leaders, including:

    --  Harvard University's mixed-use redevelopment of 175 North Harvard
        Street, which includes the new home for the American Repertory Theater
        and all-new university housing building at 100 South Campus Drive, in
        Allston, Mass.;
    --  Excel Miami, a new 24-story residential tower in Miami's Arts &
        Entertainment District;
    --  the new Greystone Elementary School in Providence, R.I., and
    --  FM's new state-of-the-art R&D center in Norwood, Mass.

Shawmut is also hosting a panel discussion with women in the field in Los Angeles, a networking event in Boston, and various programming for employees, including a session on unconscious bias.
