Eshelman retains No. 1 ranking for external research funding
CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Sept. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy reached an all-time high with more than $99.3 million in federal fiscal year 2024.
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy has retained its No. 1 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy ranking for external research funding among U.S. schools and colleges of pharmacy.
The school reached an all-time high of more than $99.3 million in federal fiscal year 2024, which covers grants received between Oct.1, 2023, and Sept. 30, 2024.

This No. 1 ranking represents the work of 88 faculty members and their research teams. Over the past five years, Eshelman has seen a steady increase in research funding, from $39 million in FY 2019 to more than $92 million in FY 2023. Last year was the first time the school earned the top spot in total external research funding.
