Eurocontrol is a privately owned company based in Italy. Employing a staff of 60, mostly university graduates and qualified technicians, the company has the expertise and the infrastructure to design, develop and manufacture systems and subsystems for various Electromechanical, Electronic, Optoelectronic and Mechatronic applications.

PRODUCTS
The company has 30 years' experience designing and manufacturing weapon Fire Control Systems, stabilised servo-controlled Mounts and Directors for integration with a variety of payloads (including radars and electro-optical sensors), electric Turret Drives and Motion Simulators.

The company adopts a problem-solving approach to designs, combined with virtual prototyping and simulation techniques, ensuring that all system lifecycle issues have been resolved, from definition of requirements to the simulation of operating environments. Working jointly with the customer's engineers, the company's designers translate technical or operating targets into design parameters, optimising the trade-off between equipment performance and design constraints.

Eurocontrol provides system support services directly to end users and system manufacturers worldwide, guaranteeing logistics assistance and maintenance feedback for at least 10 years from commissioning.

When applications require strict environmental and functional specifications, Eurocontrol develops tailor made solutions accordingly. Aspects considered for customisation include: special dimensioning - shock and vibration compatibility - EMC/EMI compatibility - hostile environmental conditions (temperature, high pressure, mechanical stress) - compliance with international standards (AQAP, MIL, STANAG, FINABEL).

The company's engineering team provides system engineering expertise for mechanical and electromechanical units and subassemblies, hardware and software. The Eurocontrol quality system has been certified in compliance with ISO 9001 for more than 5 years and is applied to all activities, from R&D and manufacturing through to sale and after sale services.

Electromechanics
Eurocontrol designs and manufactures AC and DC motors and generators, servo-motors, high precision linear actuators, motor generator sets and custom designed slip-ring assemblies for applications where stringent requirements dictate tailor made solutions. The company's motors and servo-motors can be supplied with incorporated feedback sensors, brakes, torque limiters and hand operated drives. Control electronics normally form part of our scope of work too.

Electronics
The electronic systems developed by Eurocontrol comply fully with EMI/EMC, shock and vibration requirements, as well as being specifically designed to facilitate lifecycle maintenance and upgrade services. Eurocontrol designs and builds power and control systems, including data acquisition and processing systems, servo amplifiers, static converters and inverters, ballistic computers and predictors, remote operating consoles and variable speed drives.

Optronics
Eurocontrol has 15 years’ experience developing optical and electro-optical systems for servocontrolled line of sight and tracking directors installed in anti-aircraft naval gun mountings. Systems can be supplied with integrated laser range finders, LLTV sensors and IR cameras for application in a comprehensive range of operating situations. Stabilised versions are also available for on-the-move tracking applications. Sometimes, when no vertical reference data is available, Eurocontrol provides a special device for this purpose. The latest systems adopt a direct drive solution, with elevation and azimuth movements controlled by brushless torque motors for zero backlash positioning and low maintenance.

Mechatronics
When required by specific applications, the company's engineering team can handle the integration of sensors and/or interfaces with other systems on a joint basis with the customer's engineers.

In mechatronic systems, there is a single design process for both mechanical components and electromechanical units, with power and control electronics required to complete the implementation of operating features.

In these cases, Eurocontrol acts as a single source supplier, coordinating the various skills involved and fine tuning interface problems to deliver fully integrated solutions on a turn-key basis. This approach gives Eurocontrol's engineers maximum flexibility in achieving the best possible design, as well as saving time and money by eliminating the problems involved in setting up interfaces between diverse units.
