Using the eAT55 Kit for Development

The CD included in the Kit provides resources for the developer to initiate the studies and the creation of firmware and applications for the eAT55 module.

The preparation for use of the Kit is extremely simple. Only connect to the power adaptor and connect the parallel cable to the corresponding port of the PC that will be used as a development station. The parallel port of the eAT55 module permits access to the JTAG interface of the processor, thereby enabling firmware and applications to be saved in Flash memory via the PC.

The CD that comes with the Kit includes the following software and files:

  • Two development environments for ARM:
     - An evaluation version (limited to 32 KBytes of generated code) of the EWARM development environment produced by IAR Systems
     - A copy of the GCC/Insight (GNU) development environment available on the Internet under license of the Free Software Foundation
  • Processor and module component datasheets
  • Programming experiments
  • eAT55 Module manual

SOM

eLPC Family of SOMs (System On Module) includes several models providing high flexibility to accelerate the development of embedded systems.

eLPC48 System On Module

The eLPC48 Module is a SOM based on the NXP LPC21xx microcontroller series. This module was designed and is manufactured by eSysTech as one of the alternatives in the eSysTech eLPC family of SOMs.

The eLPC48 Module consists of a half-credit card size PCB that implements the core of a microprocessor system based on the ARM7TDMI-S architecture.

The eLPC48 Module follows the concept of SOM (System On Module). It implements the essential functions (microcontroller, power, and clock) of an embedded system and provides a standard interface for the implementation of specific functions on a base board.

This module may be used for both, engineering purposes and for integration in final products.

Characteristics of the Module

The eLPC48 Module supports the LQFP48 members (48 pins)of the NXP LPC21xx microcontroller series including microcontrollers form LPC2101 to LPC2106.

The figure below shows the back face of the eLPC48 module. All I/O pins of the microcontroller are available through a 60-pin 0.1” header. This connector allows for easy access to the SOM´s signals as well as facilitating the construction of boards with peripheral devices and interfaces.

The standard assembly of the eLPC48 uses a NXP LPC2103 microcontroller with 32K of flash memory and 8K of RAM. Other models of the LPC21xx can be assembled on demand.

To know more about the NXP LPC21xx microcontroller series, visit the NXP website (www.nxp.com).

eLPC64 System On Module

The eLPC64 Module is a SOM based on the NXP LPC21xx microcontroller series. This module was designed and is manufactured by eSysTech as one of the alternatives in the eSysTech eLPC family of SOMs.

The eLPC64 Module consists of a half-credit card size PCB that implements the core of a microprocessor system based on the ARM7TDMI-S architecture.

The eLPC64 Module follows the concept of SOM (System On Module). It implements the essential functions (microcontroller, power, and clock) of an embedded system and provides a standard interface for the implementation of specific functions on a base board.

This module may be used for both, engineering purposes and for integration in final products.

Characteristics of the Module

The eLPC64 Module supports the LQFP64 members (64 pins) of the NXP LPC21xx microcontroller series including microcontrollers form LPC2114 to LPC2194.

The figure below shows the back face of the eLPC64 module. All I/O pins of the microcontroller are available through a 60-pin 0.1” header. This connector allows for easy access to the SOM´s signals as well as facilitating the construction of boards with peripheral devices and interfaces.

The standard assembly of the eLPC64 uses a NXP LPC2148 microcontroller with 512K of flash memory and 40K of RAM. Other models of the LPC21xx can be assembled on demand.

eLPC 144 Module

The eLPC 144 Module is a SOM (System On Module) based on the NXP LPC 2294 microprocessor. This module was designed and is produced by eSysTech as one of the alternatives in the eSysTech eLPC family of modules.

The eLPC Module consists of a credit card size PCB that implements the core of a microprocessor system based on the ARM7TDMI-S architecture.

The eLPC Module follows the baby-board concept, or microprocessor module, in other words, implements the essential functions (processor, Flash memory, RAM, power, and clock) of a board and provides interfaces for the implementation of specific functions for each product.

Characteristics of the Module

The products that utilize the eLPC144 Module are typically composites of a mainboard on which is connected the eLPC144 (baby-board). In the mainboard are implemented the specific circuits of each product. The two headers, connectors in white in the photo, allow the connection between the main board and the eLPC 144 Module.

The figure below shows the back face of the module that contains the two high density connectors (total of 160 pins).

The main characteristics of the eLPC 144 Module are listed in the table below.
