Belgian Advanced Technology Systems Defence & Homeland Security Solutions

Founded in 1984 and established in Liège Science Park, BATS is a privileged systems provider to the Belgian Army (Battlefield Surveillance Radar).

Whereas BATS remains a major actor in the industrial defence sector, the company has diversified into the Homeland security (HLS) sector and specialized in the design, development and supply of solutions based on advanced technologies. BATS cooperates with European institutions and industrial groups and is an approved supplier to NATO and the European commission.

BATS offers a comprehensive range of detection and tracking advanced radar systems, for short and long ranges, which enable the design of very efficient protection solutions, both for military and civilian applications. BATS HLS systems are operational worldwide and are continuously improved on the basis of lessons learned and customers’ operational feed-back. COMMAND AND CONTROL

ARGUS C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Intelligence) : C4I integration allows a short loop between reception of information, analysis and decision to counter the threat. It provides decision makers with the most accurate and real time operational picture and the capability to react in a timely manner to the identified threat. ARGUS C4I has the following main functionalities: Multi-sources sensing, Situational awareness picture, Mission and resources management, Intelligence, Planning, Reports/Statistics.

CRISIS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (CEMS)

UIC: Unified Information Center. This software creates a complete and unified situation report for executive decision-making. UIC unifies in real time data retrieved from multiple local, regional and national organizations operating different information systems.

MC4: Monitoring Command, Control and Communication Center. This software allows the in-real time sharing of critical information between all actors and deals with all phases of operational crisis management: preparedness, prevention, response, recovery.

RADARS

Ground Surveillance Radars: A very wide range of radars is available in order to answer to an extended variety of requirements .Initially designed for defence purpose, these systems are extraordinary robust and reliable. The radar technology constitutes in many cases the backbone of our HLS solutions.

Advanced Coastal Surveillance Radars: BATS coastal radars were originally and exclusively designed for maritime purposes. They are able to detect any tiny and fast embarkations at long distance and by rough sea.

Air Defence Radar: BATS offers an exhaustive family of fourth generation 3D Air Defence Radars which covers the full AD spectrum: V-SHORAD, SHORAD, medium range, long range. They detect a wide variety of flying platforms, including low level high-speed fighter aircraft, hovering helicopters, low velocity ultra-light aircraft and UAVs. Our solutions are mobile and deployable.

Tactical Air Defence Radar: BATS offers a fourth generation 3D Tactical Air Defence Radar which detects a wide variety of flying platforms, including low level high-speed fighter aircraft, hovering helicopters, low velocity ultra-light aircraft and UAVs.

SENSORS

Electro Optical Sensors: The E/O sensors are designed to detect all targets, moving and static. They can be directed automatically to designed targets (via radar).

Advanced Perimeter Security System: BATS smart fence solution is a new generation security system which transforms any existing type of fence into an electronic barrier with the best detection resolution of approximately 10 meters. Vibration sensors and electronic controllers are installed onto existing infrastructures providing the most comprehensive intrusion detection system available.

SIGINT Systems: BATS offers various systems and sensors: Off-the-air GSM interception system; Integrated COMINT system or payload for UAV or small aircraft; Direction finder.

FORCE PROTECTION

Vehicle Protection: BATS offers autonomous radar or optical systems which provide detection and location of hostile fire (RPG, tank rounds, antitank rockets, ATGM). They can be coupled with hard-kill or soft-kill countermeasures and thus provide an effective protection for vehicles.

C-RAM (Counter Rockets-Artillery-Mortars) : BATS solution is an autonomous tactical mobile systems which detects and track ballistic ammunitions trajectories. It determines the launching point and predicts the impact location. As such, the alert can be transmitted to the threatened forces and the data sent to artillery units for counter-battery.
