The NIDV Defence and Security Exhibition (NEDS) 2019 is the largest exclusive event for the Defence and Security Industry in the Benelux region. This year, NEDS will be held at Ahoy Rotterdam on 28 November.
The annual NIDV event is being organised for the 31st time and is well known as the place where industry and the government meet each other. It is where more than 2,500 visitors from the Ministry of Defence, the government, industry and international representatives come together to network and establish new contacts.

Exhibition and trade fair
As in previous years, there will be ample opportunities for companies to present themselves or their products to visitors on the trade fair floor. Once again, there will also be an impressive main programme with keynote speeches and dignitaries. Visitors will be able to obtain in-depth information during the four concurrent sessions in the afternoon programme. Over 100 exhibitors, ranging from OEMs to SMEs and from start-ups to traditional suppliers, will be present to demonstrate their innovations, developments and the latest technological applications.
Integrated Security
The theme of the 31st NEDS event is integrated security. Security within the Netherlands and abroad is under constant pressure. Security issues are becoming more complex and internationalised and demand an increasingly integrated approach. Therefore, the Netherlands’ approach to public security must be integrated and capable of effectively dealing with problems both domestically and abroad. That is why it is important that all stakeholders both within and outside of government collaborate on collective security around the world.
This collaboration has grown enormously in recent years. The branches of the armed forces and the Police and Fire Services have long ceased to be isolated actors and are working together more and more. The defence and security industry in the Netherlands, including the knowledge institutions, provide an unmistakable contribution to our society. Companies in the Netherlands comprise major end producers, SMEs, start-ups, scale-ups and family firms. This collaboration in the field of public security has been praised both within the Netherlands and abroad, and is known as the “Triple Helix”. The integrated approach, which prioritises the interests of the Netherlands PLC, has proven itself. When these security services and partners work together, it is to the benefit of security.
