Inventor Develops Intrinsically Safe Calculator for Bending Conduit

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "Cell phones send off electrical charges that can cause explosions in hazardous areas," said an inventor from S. Houston, Texas. "Phones also can cause frequency interference towards equipment or instruments in the field or refinery unit, causing false, inaccurate or alarming readings back to the control room. I came up with this idea because phones are not intrinsically safe and are forbidden for use when in the refinery units. This calculator will ensure that electrical personnel have the right tool for the job."

He developed the BENDER PRO with an intrinsically safe design that can be used in refinery units and other hazardous areas. The unit makes it easier to bend conduit as needed for each specific job. It enables user to calculate concentric and segmented bends quickly and easily. The device ensures that conduit capacity is correct for different wire gauges for power and instrumentation. The invention eliminates guesswork and confusion when making calculations, and saves time and effort. Furthermore, it allows for basic Ohm's law calculations.

The original design was submitted to the Houston office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
