Con Edison and Sealed Offering Program to Residential Customers that Pays for Comfort Upgrades

NEW YORK, Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- With dangerously cold temperatures in the Northeast this winter, Con Edison and New York-based energy technology company Sealed are offering a new program to help homeowners winterize their homes and use less energy.

Under the program, called HomeAdvance, qualified Con Edison residential customers can get up to $6,500 towards home comfort upgrades, including insulation, Wi-Fi enabled LED lighting, and a smart thermostat. The upgrades also reduce your home's energy usage, with the money saved on your energy bills guaranteed to pay for the work.

"With the HomeAdvance program, we're giving customers a head start on upgrades to help them stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer while using less energy," said Vicki Kuo, director of Energy Efficiency for Con Edison. "And the program uses local businesses so all the money stays in the community."

"Just like a leaky faucet wastes water, a drafty house wastes energy and money. By upgrading your house through the HomeAdvance program, you can put that money you're wasting right back into your home so you're more comfortable all year round," said Andy Frank, Founder and CEO of Sealed.

"You pay for the upgrades with the money you save on your energy bills which means your total energy budget stays about the same as before," Frank said. "Sealed takes all the risk that the project will pay for itself."

"I am usually skeptical of such things as a win-win but this is clearly one of them!" said HomeAdvance customer Rick C. of Pelham, NY. "Your home increases in value based on the work, you are just more comfortable at home, and it helps the overall infrastructure of the utility company by reducing the demand of outdated homes."

Sealed manages HomeAdvance with Con Edison and support from the New York Green Bank. Sealed helps homeowners affordably improve the comfort, health, safety, and value of their home via energy efficiency upgrades. The New York Green Bank is an agency created by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo that invests in clean energy projects that create jobs and help the environment.
