Society of Interventional Radiology names M. Victoria Marx, M.D., FSIR, president for 2018-2019

New Executive Council and SIR Foundation Board of Directors members announced

LOS ANGELES, March 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- M. Victoria Marx, M.D., FSIR, an interventional radiologist at Keck Medicine of USC, and professor of clinical radiology and diagnostic radiology residency program director at Keck School of Medicine of USC, Los Angeles, assumed the office of president of the Society of Interventional Radiology on March 20, during the society's Annual Scientific Meeting in Los Angeles.

New and reappointed members of the SIR Executive Council are Councilors-at-large Robert J. Lewandowski, M.D., FSIR, Northwestern Medicine, Chicago; and Akhilesh K. Sista, M.D., FSIR, NYU Langone Health, New York; Postgraduate medical education division councilor Kelvin Hong, M.D., FSIR, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore; Graduate medical division councilor Parag J. Patel, M.D., FSIR, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; and International division councilor Brian F. Stainken, M.D., FSIR, Stamford Hospital, Stamford, Conn. In addition, the SIR Executive Council appointed Raj Pyne, M.D., Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, N.Y., to a one-year nonvoting term as ad hoc councilor for private practice.

Jeremy C. Durack, M.D., M.S., FSIR, became the chair of the SIR Foundation Board of Directors. In addition, the foundation appointed a new SIR Foundation vice chair Katharine L. Krol, M.D. FSIR; a new SIR Foundation development division chair Theresa M. Caridi, M.D., Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington; and reappointed SIR Foundation clinical research and registries division chair Sarah B. White, M.D., FSIR, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, for an additional three-year term.
