Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Expands Privacy and Data Protection Practice

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, announced today that Lore Leitner has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the London office. Leitner's practice will focus on privacy and cybersecurity.

For nearly a decade, Leitner has advised clients on data protection and privacy, as well as cybersecurity and intellectual property-related issues. For example, she has advised clients on the design and implementation of data protection compliance programs, including those driven by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). She has also advised companies on data privacy in developing proactive business strategies that involve large-scale data use, regulatory investigations, and damage mitigation tactics related to cyber intrusions or data breaches. Leitner also has substantial expertise in M&A and capital markets transactions, assisting deal teams by advising on privacy, data protection, and other deal-related requirements.

Prior to joining WSGR, Leitner was a senior associate for Latham & Watkins in its London office where her practice focused on data protection; cybersecurity; and technology, media, and telecommunications law. She was acting interim global data protection officer at the firm from 2014 to 2015. Before joining Latham & Watkins, she practiced as an associate in the Brussels office of Stibbe, where she qualified in 2009, and she was an associate in the London office of Pinsent Masons.

"Lore has been practicing in globally important business centers, like London and Brussels, to build her expanse of privacy and data protection expertise that includes advisory matters, regulatory investigations, incident responses, and transactional work," said Cédric Burton, a partner based in WSGR's Brussels office who is co-leader of the firm's privacy and data protection practice and leads the European privacy practice. "Lore is a perfect fit for our leading practice. She will help us offer seamless practical advice to our clients globally thanks to her expertise in areas of strategic importance. We're delighted to welcome her to the firm, and excited by the expansion of our privacy practice to the UK."

Leitner earned her J.D. from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, in 2008, where she graduated magna cum laude. She received her LL.M. from King's College London (KCL) at University of London, UK, in 2009. She speaks English, Dutch, French, and German.

"Lore's range and types of expertise cover areas that are important to the commercial and business interests of technology and life sciences companies in London and around the UK," said Daniel Glazer, a WSGR partner who leads the firm's London office and heads its US expansion practice.
