Asana Recovery Becomes LegitScript-Certified Ensuring Clients and Patients of Safe and Legitimate Services in Addiction Treatment

COSTA MESA, Calif., Dec. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Asana Recovery received its LegitScript certification allowing the organization to promote its services online and ensure potential patients and clients that it provides addiction treatment services in a safe, legal and legitimate manner.

A LegitScript certification shows that Asana Recovery has met LegitScript's standards for legality, safety and transparency. The certification process vets organizations and differentiates those that become certified from addiction treatment facilities involved in illicit activities. They help addiction treatment centers build trust with prospective patients, informing them that the organization operates safely and legally.

The addiction treatment industry has been fraught with controversy and dubious practices as the growth of treatment facilities has multiplied in the last several years. Over a year ago, Google imposed strict limitations in online advertising by addiction treatment centers, prohibiting service providers from participating in Google AdWords. Similar restrictions were applied to Facebook advertising. LegitScript provides the only certification service for drug and alcohol addiction treatment providers that is accepted by Google and Facebook, to ensure that advertisers run safe, legal and legitimate operations.

The opioid crisis has had a direct effect on the fast growth and spread of addiction treatment facilities, some of which run questionable operations. Just last month, a new law was enacted to address the opioid crisis and the practices and services that have emerged from it. The new bill, named H.R. 6, the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act, addresses many aspects of the opioid crisis. One of its provisions is aimed to stop the illegal practice of kickbacks in recovery.

The new anti-kickback law makes it illegal to knowingly and willfully pay or receive kickbacks in return for referring a patient to a recovery home or clinical treatment facilities. Those found guilty will be fined up to $200,000 or 10 years in prison, or both.

"Becoming LegitScript-Certified was very timely for Asana Recovery, especially with the passage of the H.R.6 SUPPORT Act last month," notes Mark Shandrow, CEO of Asana Recovery. "Our certification ensures potential clients that when they find information about our services online, they can expect a trusted organization. And as the industry becomes subject to more regulations, it is important for us to stay ahead of the curve and establish our services as the gold standard across all aspects of addiction treatment."
