ES&S Voting Systems Chosen in Four Indiana Counties

OMAHA, Neb., Feb. 27, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Election Systems & Software (ES&S) is honored to announce that four Indiana counties recently designated ES&S as their election management vendor of choice. More than 930,000 registered voters in Marion, Porter, Elkhart and Dearborn counties will soon cast their ballots on ES&S federally certified voting systems. These counties join five other Indiana counties already using the ExpressVote Universal Voting System.

"As Clerk, I want to make sure that voting is simple, easy and convenient," said Myla Eldridge, Marion County Clerk, who purchased ExpressVote machines for all voters after being impressed with their performance for voters with disabilities over the last three years. "The ExpressVote voting machine allows us to achieve that desire while still providing a paper ballot for our voters."

ES&S has a steadfast commitment to the security of its voting equipment. The ExpressVote Universal Voting System utilizes a variety of functions to ensure election data and cast vote records are secure. The touch-screen system also produces a verifiable and fully-auditable paper record for each voter.

"It was important to us to have both the touch-screen mechanics as well as having an auditable paper trail that voters will be able to check and physically see and be comfortable with submitting," said Christopher Anderson, Elkhart County Clerk. "ES&S' voting system offered both the security and reliability that Elkhart County voters have come to expect."

Like all ES&S ballot-tabulation equipment, the DS200(®) precinct scanner and tabulator includes physical security features to secure sensitive components and election files. The DS200 operating system controls, limits and detects unauthorized access to all critical data. The system also includes safeguards that help protect sensitive data and verify authenticity. The DS850(®) high-throughput scanner and vote tabulator is the fastest central scanner in the election industry, capable of processing 300 double-sided 14-inch ballots per minute. Equipped with ES&S' patented IMR(®) and PTRAC(TM) technology, the DS850 continuously scans and intelligently sorts ballots, ensuring that even marginally marked ballots are read accurately and consistently, saving election staff valuable time when tabulating results.

The counties made their selection after a comprehensive assessment of election systems vendors. Through their assessments, the counties' election officials determined that the ES&S Election Management System, Electionware(®), provides a voting solution that is easy for both poll workers and election officials to navigate and manage. With the ExpressVote(TM), having both battery backup and thermal paper means election officials never have to worry about power outages or printer ink. The touch-screen technology also meets the needs of voters with disabilities and is fully ADA-compliant.

"We are honored to serve and partner with these four Indiana counties," said Jeremy Burton, ES&S Regional Sales Manager. "We take immense pride in the quality of our products and services and in delivering on our vision of maintaining voter confidence and enhancing the voting experience priority one. We look forward to a successful and long-term partnership."
