Lepide Introduces "On the Fly" Classification of Files Into Its Discovery and Classification Functionality
AUSTIN, Texas, April 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Lepide today released version 19.1 of the award-winning Data Security Platform, LepideAuditor.
After careful consideration and feedback from customers, Lepide took the decision to introduce key new functionality into the data discovery and classification and user and entity behavior analytics functionality of the solution.
One of the most exciting new features of version 19.1 is the introduction of on the fly classification. LepideAuditor will now classify files as they are created, modified, renamed or moved, in real time as opposed to requiring scheduled, manual classification as is common amongst other Data Security Platforms. We understand the importance of this for two main reasons.
Firstly, data discovery and classification across large and complex data sets is a very time-consuming task and full scans can be expected to take a significant amount of time. These deep scans should be run at the beginning of data and IT systems risk assessment to discover the sensitivity of the data that your organization has ownership of, but you should also have the ability to scan on the fly as and when new data is created or modified.
Secondly, if sensitive data is being created or even moved into unsecure locations such as open shares, it immediately expands the threat landscape and the data becomes exposed, making it more vulnerable and open to a data breach. Proactively scanning, classifying and alerting as and when these interactions take place is critical in ensuring you have appropriate security controls in place to identify a potential data or security breach in motion or prevent it from even happening.
Below is a breakdown of all the key new functionality in LepideAuditor 19.1:
-- Classify files by risk at the point of creation, modification or copy event. -- Users can now manually override classification, flag or re-classify if they wish. -- More data discovery and classification-related templates have been included. -- A new report has been included that shows actual vs recommended owners on data. -- Users can now explore permissions on sensitive data from a rick click in the console. -- The security and functionality of the solution has been further improved.
