Axis Construction Wins 3 Modular Building Institute Awards of Distinction

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., April 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Axis Construction Corporation, a premier provider of construction management, design-build, and general contracting services, has been recognized with three awards in the Modular Building Institute's (MBI) 2019 Awards of Distinction. The ceremony, held during the World of Modular Annual Convention & Tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada was attended by over 1,000 influential modular construction professionals from more than 25 countries.

Axis Construction took home "The Best in Show" award for Permanent Modular Building, as voted on by the attendees of the Conference; First Prize in the Permanent Modular Health Care category and Honorable Mention in the Multimedia category for its Gotham Health Family Health Clinic modular building, built in Staten Island, NY for New York City Health & Hospitals Corp. The modular approach allowed NYC to open the clinic over nine months ahead of what conventional construction would have allowed, ensuring the community had access to a new state of the art facility with minimal delay. Clinical Programs contained within this LEED Silver facility include Pediatrics, Women's Health, Ophthalmology, Podiatry, Radiology (x-ray, ultra-sound, mammography), Diabetes Care as well as Behavioral Health. Axis Construction Corporation was awarded this Design/Build contract and the structure was built utilizing over 59 modules in order to meet the fast-track schedule. It is a two (2) story building, approximately 19,000 SF, Type II (steel frame - noncombustible) equipped with a fully automatic fire sprinkler system.

During construction of the clinic, Axis partnered with modular manufacturer NRB-USA, Inc. based in New Holland, PA to fabricate and deliver the modular building. Axis also engaged Westchester, New York based production company TimeLine Video to produce a comprehensive video highlighting the modular construction process. With a focus on turnaround speed as well as quality and safety of modular construction, the video won the Honorable Mention prize in the Marketing Piece-Multimedia category.

"This year's Awards of Distinction contest was very competitive, with over one hundred sixty entries overall," said Tom Hardiman Executive Director of the Modular Building Institute. "Our panel of independent judges had some tough choices to make, so I congratulate Axis Construction on winning these awards."
