Urgent Care Association to Host "Ready...Set...Accredited!" Workshops

WARRENVILLE, Ill., June 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Urgent Care Association (UCA) will be hosting Accreditation Workshop events in August and November for urgent care operators in all phases of the accreditation process. The hands-on workshops will provide participants with tools and expert insight on how to navigate accreditation step-by-step, whether they are getting accredited for the first time or maintaining their accreditation status. There will be two location options for the workshops: the first will be held at UCA headquarters in Warrenville, Ill., on August 7 & 8, 2019, and the second option will be immediately following UCA's Northeast Regional Urgent Care Association's (NERUCA) Conference in Springfield, Mass., on November 5 & 6, 2019.

"Our accreditation workshops provide an interactive experience for urgent care leaders, allowing them to experience what a survey is really like, while also learning how best to sustain the activities within their organizations," said Laurel Stoimenoff, CEO of UCA. "Understanding the accreditation process helps urgent care centers develop and implement consistent processes to meet standard requirements, while highlighting how more efficient practices can have a beneficial ripple effect across all operations."

Accreditation Workshops
The Accreditation Workshops will be a deep dive into UCA Accreditation. The hands-on workshop will give interested centers everything they need to prepare for the full accreditation process; current accredited centers will get a first-hand look at upcoming changes to the Accreditation Standards and the resources to help maintain accreditation; and those centers in the process of accreditation will have an intimate networking opportunity with accreditation experts and peers who are going through various stages of the process.

All attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Survey Snapshot: A Glimpse into an Onsite Survey. The Survey Snapshot will walk participants through some of the more important features of an onsite survey, demonstrating what they can expect when a surveyor arrives at the center. In addition, UCA experts will address several key topics vital to accreditation, including:

    -- Credentialing and privileging
    -- Governance
    -- HR record management
-- Creating a Quality Improvement Plan
    -- Developing a self-audit tool
    -- Lab and radiology protocols

"Our workshops are designed to cover all aspects of the accreditation process, helping urgent care centers understand the standards in context and develop comprehensive strategies for success," said Taylor Dunn, UCA Director of Standards & Quality. "Our experts will share best practices for nurturing a culture centered on quality and collaboration that is foundational to achieving accreditation."

1,000 Centers and Counting
The UCA accreditation program was developed by urgent care professionals for urgent care professionals to address the unique processes and experiences at urgent care centers. Earlier this year, UCA achieved a major milestone when it accredited its 1,000th urgent care center. UCA established its accreditation program in response to growing industry interest in an affordable accreditation option that was uniquely customized to urgent care medicine. Five years after the launch of its program, UCA now accredits more urgent care centers than any other accrediting body.

"UCA accreditation adds credibility to an organization's commitment to quality, it challenges centers to raise the bar on patient care and underscores the importance of safety and efficiency in the delivery of on-demand care," said Stoimenoff. "Achieving accreditation distinguishes urgent care centers as having the highest standards of care, helping set them apart from other centers and providing a competitive advantage with payers by demonstrating ongoing quality improvement. We look forward to working with many more centers in the future as they seek the accreditation designation."
