YAMAL-601 communication satellite now started the in orbit raising phase

Cannes, June 7th , 2019 – Thales Alenia Space and Gazprom Space Systems announce that the Yamal-601 satellite started yesterday its transition to the geostationary orbit. The specialists are implementing the in orbit raising backup strategy, in line with the operating documentation and focusing on the safety of the spacecraft.

The first manoeuver lasted about two hours and was successful. All the parameters of the satellite are nominal.

The flight program provides for multiple repetitions of such maneuvers. The estimated time of arrival in the required position in the geostationary orbit (49 degrees E) is expected at end of June 2019. The contractual in-orbit service lifetime will not be impacted (15 years).
