Keeping It Clean at the Esipovo Industrial Park with Penetron Technology
EAST SETAUKET, N.Y., Dec. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- With the ceremonial launch of the first Mercedes Benz manufacturing plant in Russia by Russian President Vladimir Putin in September 2019, the development of the Esipovo Industrial Park economic zone is up and running. Earlier this year, Penetron helped build the Park's water treatment facility and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with the Penetron suite of crystalline waterproofing products.
Flanked by the Senezh Lake, the Esipovo Industrial Park is located in Solnechnogorsk, a town of about 50,000 inhabitants, approximately 65 kilometers (40 miles) northwest of Moscow. The first industrial park in the Moscow region was established on the territory of rural settlements within the Moscow Oblast, with a total of 284 hectares (700 acres) reserved for preferential economic development. Today, the Park's first facility is in full production and numerous other projects are under construction; about 120 hectares (296 acres) remain available.
"Only a few years ago, this whole site was a remote field," describes Igor Chernogolov, President of Penetron-Russia. "Now, with the recent opening of the Mercedes automotive plant, the industrial park is taking off."
Esipovo's first completed project is the Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Rus facility. Daimler AG invested over EUR250 million in the Sirius facility, the company's first passenger car production factory in Russia. The production of SUVs and the E-Class sedan is planned for the new facility.
Penetron Helps Plan a Durable Facility
"The Penetron team was an early and significant partner in the ramp-up of construction at the Esipovo Industrial Park," adds Igor Chernogolov. "To ensure a reliable water supply and water treatment services, we were closely involved during the construction of the Park's water treatment facility, water drainage system, and a modern wastewater treatment plant."
Because the concrete in water treatment facilities and WWTPs are constantly exposed to aggressive environments, the Esipovo project engineers worked with the Penetron-Russia technical team to come up with a concrete waterproofing and protection solution that would guarantee long-term durability. PENETRON ADMIX-treated concrete was used to protect the concrete elements against water penetration and resulting deterioration caused by the chemical attack of various dissolved solids and toxic compounds encountered during the treatment of industrial wastewater.
PENETRON ADMIX, a crystalline waterproofing admixture, is added to the concrete mix during batching. PENETRON ADMIX reacts with the water in fresh concrete to form an insoluble network of crystals, which fill in hairline cracks, pores and voids present in concrete. This process takes place throughout the concrete matrix, making it impermeable to moisture, chemicals and pollutants.
"Our crystalline admixture enhances the structural durability of these key concrete components despite the aggressive chemicals - and provides a self-healing capability to seal any new cracks in the concrete," adds Igor Chernogolov. "That will help to keep future maintenance costs down and the water clean."
