BGE Announces Updates to Its State Affairs Team in Annapolis

In an ongoing effort to strengthen its leadership team and build on its history of delivering distinctive customer service, BGE announces that Sandy I-ru Grace has been named vice president of Governmental and External Affairs. Sandy will be responsible for shaping, leading and directing the company’s positions on legislation affecting BGE’s central Maryland customers. Sandy succeeds Valencia McClure, who retires this month.

“Sandy brings to BGE a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be invaluable as we work with legislators in the Maryland General Assembly to provide innovative solutions to our customers’ energy needs,” said Rodney Oddoye, incoming senior vice president of Governmental and External Affairs. “I look forward to working with Sandy on behalf of BGE’s customers.” Grace will report to Oddoye whose appointment was announced in September. Both assume their new roles on January 1, 2020.

Currently, Sandy serves as vice president of Policy Development at Exelon Utilities, where she is responsible for developing and aligning policy positions across Exelon’s fleet of utilities, including BGE. She has also previously served as director and assistant general counsel at Exelon. Sandy joined Exelon in 2010.

Sandy is a member of the Maryland Bar, District of Columbia Bar, Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Court of Appeals for D.C. Circuit, Energy Bar Association. She previously served as Chair of the D.C. Mayor’s Commission on Violence Against Women and on the Board of Directors for the Asian Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project.
