Astrapi selected as a Finalist for the Silicon Vikings Pitch Competition on the Strength of its Spiral Modulation Technology

DALLAS, Feb. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Astrapi Corporation is honored to be named a finalist for the Texas Regional Silicon Viking & Startup World Cup Texas Regional Competition. The presentation will be February 20th and hosted by the Capital Factory in their Dallas, Texas location. The Silicon Vikings, in partnership with startup World Cup, brought the competition to the Nordic and Baltic regions in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, three regional competitions were organized: the United States West Coast Regional in Washington, Oregon and California; another in Utah; and one in Texas. One winner from each of the events will compete for a $1 million investment at the Global Grand Finale in San Francisco.

Astrapi's Spiral Modulation provides an innovative, structured way to dramatically improve the utilization of spectrum for telecommunications. Astrapi has demonstrated with external validation a 3-4dB, more than a factor of 2, improvement in required signal power in our first-generation Software Defined Radio (SDR). Lower required signal power also enables reduced Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) requirements for both manned and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Spiral Modulation is also being developed for commercial satellite VSAT applications, commercial satellite, backhaul, terrestrial wireless, and Internet-of-Things applications and will be deployed in the modems, terminals, radios, and sensors that support those networks.

Dr. Jerrold Prothero, Astrapi Founder and CEO, stated, "We are quite excited to be selected as a finalist for the Silicon Vikings World Cup. Our early Software Defined Radio results suggest Spiral Modulation will be able to match the dramatic reduction in required signal power that we have been able to demonstrate in simulation. We are frequency agnostic and serve communication networks around the world and in space. Our results are quite encouraging since we have not yet fully optimized our approach. There are many applications within the defense and commercial sectors, so Spiral Modulation is positioned to solve multiple challenges related to how spectrum may be optimized, especially in congested and contested environments."

ABOUT Astrapi Corporation
Astrapi is the pioneer of Spiral Modulation, which opens an unexplored area for innovation at the core of telecommunications. Currently Astrapi has ten patents issued, with more pending and with international coverage. Based on a generalization of Euler's formula, the foundational mathematics for telecom, Astrapi provides fundamentally new ways to optimize the use of spectrum. By applying new mathematics to signal modulation, Astrapi is able to improve the trade-off between the four fundamental parameters in telecommunications: bandwidth, signal power, data throughput, and error rate. The resulting efficiency translates into higher spectral performance with more bits available at a lower cost.

ABOUT the Silicon Vikings
Silicon Vikings is a 45,000+ network that connects Nordic and Baltic Innovation with Silicon Valley and vice versa. We are a nonprofit organization that has been headquartered in Silicon Valley since 1997 with nodes throughout the Nordic and Baltic region and that act as a bridge between regions.

We organize approximately 20-25 events on technology, science, innovation and entrepreneurship topics in the Bay Area each year in addition to cross-border events with our nodes and partners in the Nordics to better connect the two regions. We organize pitching events and pitching competitions in the Nordics/Baltics & in Silicon Valley.
