National Bank to donate $500,000 to ten mental health organizations

MONTREAL, May 6, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - In a series of efforts to support key players in the current situation, National Bank will donate $500,000 to ten organizations that work in the mental health field in different regions of the country. "It's a cause we've been invested in for many years now. Mental health disorders pose a serious societal challenge and affect people of all ages, origins and backgrounds," said Louis Vachon, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank. "Organizations who support mental health are essential, especially in the current context. That's why the Bank wants to reaffirm its support."

This financial support will notably help support research, grant direct financial assistance to a number of support and assistance organizations, and promote wellness tools and resources.

The beneficiaries include a study by researcher Simon Coulombe at Wilfrid Laurier University, Revivre, Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation, Fondation Jeunes en Tête, Kids Help Phone, Wood's Homes Foundation, Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, BC Mental Health Foundation, Le Chaînon, Canadian Mental Health Association - Manitoba and Winnipeg.

National Bank's recent donations

    --  $1 million to food banks, vulnerable groups and the Canadian Red Cross
    --  $500,000 to the United Way Centraide COVID-19 Community Response and
        Recovery Fund intended to support those in communities most affected by
        the pandemic
    --  $50,000 to the Breakfast Club of Canada Emergency Fund to provide
        nutritional support to thousands of children and their families
    --  National Bank has also donated its TV ad slots and scheduled social
        media posts to support Héma-Québec as it encourages people to donate
        blood.
