Comcast and Bunker Labs Launch Digital Boot Camps for Military Veteran Entrepreneurs in Seattle

Comcast Washington and Bunker Labs Seattle have launched a new pilot program for increasing digital business skills and aptitude for military Veteran entrepreneurs and military spouses – Bunker Labs Digital Boot Camps. The new program will empower these individuals by teaching them how to use digital tools and technology to start, run and grow a business. Through Bunker Labs Digital Boot Camps, Veterans and military spouses receive training from experts about digital tools to enhance their operations, and ultimately better understand today’s tech-driven business landscape.

Piloted exclusively in the Seattle market, this new program is the first of its kind nationwide from Bunker Labs. Bunker Labs Seattle will hold Digital Boot Camps from February through April 2019. This month’s event on February 28 will feature Matt Griffin, CEO and founder of Combat Flip Flops, as its special guest speaker.

According to the Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs, more than 285,000 Veterans live in the Puget Sound region. For those operating or starting their own business, Bunker Labs Digital Boot Camps helps them get technology and digital skills training critical for operating a business today. The program covers important tech-centered topics like growing an organization’s digital footprint, monetizing social media, digital storytelling and branding, basic coding and HTML, and more.

“We are excited to launch Bunker Labs Digital Boot Camps for Veteran entrepreneurs and be the first market to premiere this program nationwide,” said Daniella Young, City Leader, Bunker Labs Seattle. “The more we can empower Veteran business owners with the tools and resources, the more tech savvy they will be in today’s digital business environment. We are happy to have Comcast’s support. The company’s expertise in building technology programs has been instrumental in this launch.”

“We are proud to launch Digital Boot Camps in Seattle with Bunker Labs and help Veterans and military spouses in Washington state,” said Amy Lynch, Regional Vice President, Comcast Washington. “Our aim is to change lives by giving them the skills and technology they need to grow their businesses.”

Comcast committed a $20,000 grant and additional resources to support the launch of Bunker Labs Digital Boot Camps in October 2018, when the company announced the expansion of its Internet Essentials program in Washington state. Internet Essentials is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive high-speed Internet and technology adoption program for low-income Americans. The program now serves one million military Veterans and family members nationwide, including 60,000 participants across the State of Washington.
