84 Lumber Launches Next Phase of Targeted Recruitment Campaign

Coming off the award-winning Super Bowl commercial, “The Journey,” 84 Lumber is making a much more direct call for new talent with their next commercial, launching today. If the Super Bowl was about telling the world who 84 Lumber is, the new commercial is about direct appeal to career candidates who will become the company’s next generation of leaders.

Since the Super Bowl, 84 Lumber has hired more than 750 new employees and seen a 191% increase in the number of individuals joining the 84 Lumber talent network (www.84Lumber.com/Careers). However, due to the labor shortage across the building industry, the company has maintained its focus on attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent. While the company is looking primarily for management trainees, they are also looking to fill roles as laborers, drivers, sales reps, project managers, and installers. All of these roles are in addition to the positions available at 84 Lumber headquarters in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania.

“People like to talk about the housing market recovery, but what they don’t talk about is the fact that the recovery isn’t happening as quickly or as largely as it could be,” said 84 Lumber president and owner Maggie Hardy Magerko. “It’s not a lack of demand – it’s a lack of inventory. We need to build more homes at all price points, because everyone deserves the American dream. But we can’t do it if we don’t have the right people to do the work.”

“Mars” will air on FOX and the ESPN family of networks. This campaign will be supported by a comprehensive digital strategy that includes social media, paid search, digital video, native advertising, and display ads. The target audience consists of people, of all ages, who don’t follow the conventional path and problem solvers with the aptitude and attitude for success.

While the campaign is certainly focused on driving applications, success will be determined not by the number of applications received, but by the quality of applicants, the people who are hired and the impact those individuals have on 84 Lumber’s business.

“Society has deemed a four-year degree is the best path for everyone, unfairly stigmatizing blue-collar careers. 84 Lumber wants to do their part to end this skills gap and grow the trade industries again,” said Rob Schapiro, chief creative officer at BRUNNER, 84 Lumber’s agency of record.

If you believe you or someone you know has ambition and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, 84 Lumber may be the place for you. Apply now at www.84Lumber.com/Careers.
