ColorChip Exhibiting Family of 100G QSFP28 Transceivers, Providing Building Block Platform for Optical Interconnect Solutions to 200/400G and Beyond

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Sept 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ColorChip will be exhibiting a family of 100G QSFP28 transceiver products this week during the 2017 European Conference for Optical Communication (ECOC), providing ideal optical interconnect solutions from 100m to 10,000m. The 100G product family is in volume production as ColorChip has significantly expanded the production facilities in both Israel and with Contract Manufacturer Fabrinet. ColorChip's SystemOnGlass(TM) platform provides an ideal solution for current datacenter needs, as well as technology building blocks to support the next generation PAM4 solutions at 200G/400G data rates.

Hyper-Scale 100G QSFP28 Transceivers for applications from 100m to 10km

During the exhibition, ColorChip will exhibit a family of 100G QSFP28 Transceivers, all in high volume production and based on ColorChip's patented SystemOnGlass(TM) (SOG(TM)) TOSA/ROSA platform. The demonstration will include the 100G 500m CWDM-Lite datacenter transceiver, accepted by the Open Compute Project (OCP), as well as the MSA compliant 2km CWDM4 and 10km 4WDM-10 offerings. The 100G transceivers are based on uncooled DML's on the CWDM grid and characterized by typical power consumption of 2.6W, highly compact QSFP28 packaging and a standard Duplex LC optical interconnect.

High Volume Optical Module Manufacturing

To meet the extraordinary bandwidth growth of today's datacenter, over the past year ColorChip has significantly increased the manufacturing throughput of its family of 100G QSFP28 transceivers. ColorChip has invested $80M, secured over the past 2 years, to expand the throughput of its industrialized-optics TOSA/ROSA assembly lines in the Israel based facility and to double the optical module integration and testing floor space to 7,000 square feet in Fabrinet. ColorChip is strongly positioned to support high volume 100G QSFP28 shipments.

Next Generation FR4/DR4 solutions at 200G/400G

To meet tomorrow's datacenter needs, ColorChip is leveraging the SystemOnGlass(TM) TOSA/ROSA platform in the development of both DML and EML based PAM4 optical engines, providing the pathway to compact, QSFPx-based PAM4 transceivers at data rates of 200G and 400G. These building blocks will be deployed in the implementation of 200G FR4 solution available in QSFP56 form factor, followed by the realization of 400G FR4/DR4 transceivers in QSFP-DD. ColorChip family of 100G, 200G and 400G transceivers provides a unique three generation, backward compatibility solution.
