Boom Supersonic Partners with Value Engineered Products (VEP) to Provide Hydraulic Systems Safety Monitoring Switches for Boom's XB-1

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., April 9, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Value Engineered Products (VEP), a leading designer, engineer and manufacturer of rugged, precision pressure, vacuum and differential switches for the aerospace industry, today announced a partnership with Boom Supersonic, the Colorado company building history's fastest supersonic airliner.

VEP, part of the World Magnetics family, is supplying hydraulic systems safety monitoring switches (the VEP 490 Series) to Boom for use on XB-1, Boom's Mach-2.2 supersonic demonstrator aircraft. VEP switches have previously been used in a vast array of applications including hydraulic and fuel systems monitoring and safety; airspeed, airflow and pressure detection; rudder control assist; and landing gear safety systems.

"At Boom, we've been fortunate to collaborate with some of the best suppliers in the industry to assist in fulfilling our mission of bringing the world closer together through supersonic travel," said Julie Valk, Boom's head of supply chain business development. "We're excited to partner with VEP to benefit from their vast aerospace experience and use their high-quality pressure switches on XB-1."

XB-1 will prove the key technologies in flight for safe, efficient travel at Mach 2.2. The data collected from XB-1 test flights will help refine the design and engineering of Overture (Boom's Mach-2.2 commercial airliner), test key supersonic technologies, and ensure efficiency, safety, and reliability. XB-1 is the first independently developed supersonic jet and will be history's fastest civil aircraft.

The VEP 490 Series Pressure Switch offers a lightweight, aluminum body with a dual-spring design for accuracy and stability. Designed to meet FAA's 15-minute flame test requirement, the VEP 490 Series is field adjustable, suitable for altitude ranges between -1,000-50,000 feet, and the piston is designed to allow high proof pressure. More information on the VEP 490 Series can be found on World Magnetics' website.
