Inhalio To Inject Antiviral Ingredients Into Mobile Scent Diffusers To Help Combat Airborne Viruses and Promote Health In Rideshare Vehicles and Fleets

SILICON VALLEY, Calif., March 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Inhalio announced today that it is actively evaluating antiviral ingredients that will be added to its Digital Scent 3.0 Platform to help reduce the airborne transmission of viruses in rideshare vehicles and fleets. By integrating specific ingredients into its intelligent scent cartridges and mobile scent diffusers that are known to reduce the transmission of airborne viruses, Inhalio can help rideshare companies provide their passengers with a healthier and safer environment.

"To help eliminate airborne pathogens, Inhalio is adding both antiviral and antibacterial ingredients into its scent formulas," said Keith Kelsen, CEO of Inhalio. "By periodically releasing these anti-pathogen infused scents into a rideshare vehicle's cabin, especially in between passenger pickups, we believe the risk of infection can be lowered. Combined with our IOT mobility diffuser systems, entire fleets of rideshare and autonomous vehicles can be quickly and easily fitted to support passenger health and wellness rides."

U.S. National Institutes of Health scientists from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) confirmed last week that the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease can infect individuals through both airborne (aerosol) transmission and direct surface contact. Their tests demonstrated that when an infected individual coughs or sneezes, the virus is carried by droplets and remains viable and still able to infect others as an airborne-based pathogen for at least three hours. These findings were released in a peer-reviewed article from The New England Journal of Medicine that included researchers from Princeton University, UCLA and the National Institutes of Health. They also found that the virus was detectable and viable on surfaces for up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard, and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel.
